deconstructed daffodil
fuzzy flower
This is a daffodil from my front yard. I was walking around trying to find objects for my photos and noticed the complexity of the daffodil. It had many petals and parts to it that made it so interesting. The combination of the vibrant yellow color and the cool parts of the flower gave me the desire to photograph it. I put it down and took some simple shots but later decided to make it more interesting. I peeled off the petals and pulled out the inner pollen and sprinkled it around. It became a purposefully messy photo that really interested me.
glass cactus
pixelated plant
This is my favorite succulent of all the ones in my room. My room is green so I have a collection of cacti and succulents on various shelves. I thought the simplicity of the glass bowl it was in and the white background really made for a cool picture. One challenge I faced was getting a creative shot of the plant. I tipped it over and moved some of the dirt around to get a different angle. Another challenge I faced was getting the light through my window to stop glaring on the bowl. I solved this by closing my curtain slightly and turning up the exposure on my camera.
falling ring
crystal ring
This ring is my mother's ring that she bought on one of her travels. She goes all around the world and often brings back little things for me or her. It was somewhat difficult getting the angle right on the ring because theres only so many ways you can photograph such a simple object. To spice things up I ripped a piece of pink tulle and threaded it through the ring to make it look as though it was on a track of movement. I held the ring in different spots and was eventually able to get the photos I wanted.
purple petals
pointed periwinkle
This is a periwinkle flower that I found outside. These flowers grow all along the edge of the woods by our house. One problem that I faced was getting the settings to be right so the flower did not darken the photo. I moved the light to a different location and took the photos until I got it right. I think the random order of the fallen petals in the top photo makes it more interesting.
melted away
fuzzy fire
This is simply one candle out of the many at my house. We constantly have different candles burning all around and the scents always change by season, making lovely smells all the time. I had trouble finding the right angle on the candle without making it look too plain. I took a lighter and melted the top layer of candle wax and poured it out onto the paper. I then was able to tip the candle over to make a photo appear as though the candle had gotten accidentally knocked over.
